21ST ANNUAL JOURNEYS MARATHON MAY 13, 2017


FULL MARATHON

The full marathon course begins near Boulder Junction on Cty K at White Birch Village and makes its way southeast along scenic Cty K to East Buckatabon Lake Road, then south to East Hunter Lake Road and onto Boot Lake Road, then East on County G before the final leg on Adams Road, Illinois Street and onto Michigan Street – finishing south of the bridge after crossing over the Eagle River into Riverview Park. Finishers receive custom-printed Journeys Marathon moisture wicking T-shirts and die-cast medals. Race Packet Pickup is Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm during the All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner (5:00 pm to 8:00 pm) at the Northland Pines High School or from 6:00 am to 6:45 am at Northland Pines High School on race day, Saturday, May 13, 2017. Buses will transport runners from the Northland Pines High School to the start line in Boulder Junction promptly at 6:45 am. Bag and tag will be available at the start line.

This course is open to those 12 years and older.

The race course closes at 2:00 pm. All runners must be across the Finish Line by 2:00 pm or they will be disqualified and transported to the Finish Line. If this is not possible please consider the race you choose.

HALF MARATHON

13.1 Mile Power Walk Journeys Marathon 13.1 Mile Power Walk is designed for the walker who wants to be scored and listed in the race results. Participants agree to walk the entire course. 10K

The 10K starts and finishes in Riverview Park at the Full Marathon Finish Line. Race Packet Pickup is Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm during the All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner (5:00 pm to 8:00 pm) at the Northland Pines High School or from 7:00 am to 7:45 am at the Finish Line in Riverview Park on race day, Saturday, May 13, 2017. The course begins just in front of the Finish Line in Riverview Park, crosses over the Eagle River on the recreation bridge and then turns left onto Sherburn St. Follow Sherburn to Illinois to the first 10K turn around cone where you will go around the cone and run on the left hand side of the road to Bolte (your next left). Turn left onto Bolte and run on the left hand side of the road until you see the second turn around cone. At that point you will go around the cone and continue to run on the left hand side back to Illinois where you will turn left and run on the left hand side of the road all the way down to Michigan where you will then turn right and run toward the bridge to finish in Riverview Park where you started. Finishers receive custom-printed Journeys Marathon moisture wicking T-shirts and die-cast finishing medals. This course is open to those 8 years and older.

5K The 5K starts and finishes in Riverview Park at the Full Marathon Finish Line. Race Packet Pickup is Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm during the All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner (5:00 pm to 8:00 pm) at the Northland Pines High School or from 7:00 am to 7:45 am at the Finish Line in Riverview Park on race day, Saturday, May 13, 2017. The course begins just in front of the Finish Line in Riverview Park, crosses over the Eagle River on the recreation bridge and then turns left onto Sherburn St. Follow Sherburn to Illinois where you will turn left and run on the left hand side of the road until you see the turn around cone and water station. At that point you will go around the cone and continue to run on the left hand side of the road all the way down to Michigan where you will turn right and run toward the bridge to finish in Riverview Park where you started. Finishers receive custom-printed Journeys Marathon moisture wicking T-shirts and die-cast finishing medals. This course is open to those 8 years and older.

Kids Fun Run This event is a fun way to get your kids (ages 7 and under) started on their way to a fit life. The kids run laps for prizes. Water and snack bags will be provided. Kids can participate anytime between 10:30 am to 1:00 pm on race day, Saturday, May 13, 2017. The Start/Finish Line for the Kids Fun Run is at the tennis court in Riverview Park. Entry Fee is $5.00. (Riverview Park is the Finish Line for all other races.) (This event may be cancelled due to inclement weather.)

Other Information

Aid Station Information: Available at the Start of the Full Marathon, at the 13.1 mile marker (Half Marathon Start) and at the Finish Line. Water Station Information: Start of Full Marathon, mile markers 3, 5,7,9,11,13,Start of Half Marathon, 15,17,19,21,22,23,24,25 and the Finish Line. Note: mile marker 19 through Finish Line will also have fruit and/or cookies available.

Portable Restrooms: Start of race, Mile 5,7,11,13,17,21,23,25 and at the Finish Line.

Is this a Boston Marathon qualifier? Yes, the course will be sanctioned and measured for this year’s race as it has been in the past.

Are strollers, bicycles and pets permitted on the race course? No – strollers, bicycles (other than course safety bikes) or pets are not allowed on any of the courses at any time.

Are headphones, iPods or MP3 players permitted? You may wear your headphones, iPods or MP3 players, however; we ask that you keep the volume AT A REASONABLE LEVEL for your own safety and out of courtesy for fellow participants. You should still be able to hear participants and volunteers in proximity to you. BE COURTEOUS OF OTHERS and CAUTIOUS OF POSSIBLE TRAFFIC.
